JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: School Psychologist
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified School Psychologist
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Understands theoretical foundations of statistical, testing and research techniques.
2. Selects appropriate psychological, educational, adaptive, perceptual, and behavior instruments.
3. Administers, interprets and reports results of individual psychological instruments in language relative and understandable to lay people.
4. Considers the affective, cognitive, psychomotor, and career education needs of students and addresses each area in written reports.
5. Provides educational recommendations relevant to classroom implementation.
6. Assures compliance with timeline mandates contained within state/federal laws.
7. To provide consultation to assigned schools in the areas of student assistance teams, due process, on-going program implementation, assigned collaboration monitoring, parent conferences and other assigned duties, delegated by the Director of Special Education.
8. to be willing to present or help present effective in-service programs or continuing education programs for both in-house professionals, and the general professional population regarding current trends and methodology in area of diagnosis, placement, and planning education goals and objectives.
9. Assists teachers and other school personnel to use assessment information in the formulation and implementation of I.E.P.’s.
10. Demonstrates ability to be unbiased and objective in interpersonal relationships with students, school personnel and parents.
11. Attends in-service and conferences for professional development.
12. Performs all other reasonable duties as requested by the Director of Special Education.
EMPLOYMENT TERM: 200
SALARY: Based on degree level and experience in accordance with the Mingo County Board of Education Salary Schedule.

- Salary based on experience and education level per Mingo County salary schedule. Expected range: $44,555 - $75,477.
- Health and basic life insurance provided through West Virginia's Public Employees Insurance Agency. Health insurance premiums, which vary by plan and coverage level, split 80/20 between employer and employee. Basic life insurance provided at no cost to the employee.
- Position requires enrollment in the Teachers Retirement System through West Virginia Consolidated Public Retirement Board. New enrollees contribute 6% of gross salary with a matching contribution by the Board of 7.5%. Vestment requires 10 years of qualified service. Withdraw of employee contributions available upon leaving employment with a WV county board of education if deisred.
- 15 annual days of personal leave provided, pro-rated for those hired after the start of the current employment term. Up to 4 days may be used each school year without cause pursuant to state and local policies.
