    JOB DESCRIPTION

    POSITION TITLE: Coordinator of Special Education Transitions

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    WV teaching certification in Learning Disabilities, Behavior Disorders, Mental Impairment and Autism

    REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1.Assist the principals and special education department to provide oversight of the growth, development, expansion, and implementation of special education programs with a focus on work experiences and Career and Technical Education (CTE).

    2.Assist school administrators in developing strategies to improve supplementary services for students with exceptionalities and utilize WARN system to identify students in need of academic support to provide interventions, resources, and strategies as needed.

    3.Coordinate with all educational partners and school-based staff to promote recruitment, enrollment, and placement activities in CTE for students with exceptionalities.

    4.Monitor county, school, and course demographics and attainment data to assist in maintaining and improving access, progress, and success of students with exceptionalities in CTE programs.

    5.Establish work experience sites with community businesses and serve as liaison to these work sites.

    6.Arrange transportation to and from interviews and job sites as needed.

    7.Collaborate with the Department of Rehabilitation Services and other related service providers to aid in completion of transition and career goals for students.

    8.Ensure CTE evaluations and transition plans are completed for all identified students.

    9.Provide information for and participate in IEP meetings.

    10.Assist in integrating West Virginia Workplace Readiness Skills and technical certification skills into classroom instruction.

    11.Participate in professional development opportunities as assigned.

    12.Represent the county, schools, and CTE programs at events for prospective students, parents, and other individuals and serve as liaison and primary advisor/advocate for special education CTE programs.

    EMPLOYMENT TERM: 200

    SALARY:Based on degree level and experience in accordance with the Mingo County Board of Education Salary Schedule.

    Compensation
    Salary based on experience and education level per Mingo County salary schedule. Expected range: $44,555 - $75,477.
    Health and basic life insurance provided through West Virginia's Public Employees Insurance Agency. Health insurance premiums, which vary by plan and coverage level, split 80/20 between employer and employee. Basic life insurance provided at no cost to the employee.
    Position requires enrollment in the Teachers Retirement System through West Virginia Consolidated Public Retirement Board. New enrollees contribute 6% of gross salary with a matching contribution by the Board of 7.5%. Vestment requires 10 years of qualified service. Withdraw of employee contributions available upon leaving employment with a WV county board of education if deisred.
    15 annual days of personal leave provided, pro-rated for those hired after the start of the current employment term. Up to 4 days may be used each school year without cause pursuant to state and local policies.
    State attendance incentive ($500) provided for those who use 4 or fewer days of personal leave each school year.
